Brink Claims Naismith Defensive Player of the Year

The votes are in and the winners of the 2024 Naismith Awards have been announced. Aaliyah Boston Clark of South Carolina has been named the Citizen Naismith Trophy College Player of the Year, while Geno Auriemma of UConn has been named the Werner Ladder College Coach of the Year. Other winners include Drew Timme (Karl Malone Award - Power Forward of the Year), Zach Edey (Pete Maravich Award - Forward of the Year), Dan Hurley (Henry Iba Award), and Jamal Shead (Bob Cousy Award).

Clark, a junior forward, averaged 18.2 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game this season. She led the Gamecocks to their second national championship in three years. Auriemma, in his 38th season at UConn, led the Huskies to a 30-5 record and their 12th national championship.

Brink, a 6-foot-4 center from Stanford, averaged 13.8 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 4.0 blocks per game this season. She helped lead the Cardinal to the Final Four.

The Naismith Awards are presented annually to the best men's and women's college basketball players and coaches. The winners are selected by a panel of media members, coaches, and former players.
