Brittney Griner selected first overall by the Phoenix Mercury

The Phoenix Mercury selected Brittney Griner with the first overall pick of the 2013 WNBA Draft presented by State Farm. Griner, a 6-foot-8 center from Baylor University, was the consensus No. 1 prospect in the draft. She is a two-time NCAA champion and was named the AP Player of the Year in 2012 and 2013. Griner is a dominant force on both ends of the floor, and she is expected to make an immediate impact for the Mercury.
